The time to act for Summer CAMPING is NOW!

Hello fellow campers!!

Did you know that January 1st is the time to start making ALL your Summer plans?  Yes that is correct, many of your favorite spots are booking up fast and the time to act is NOW!
One of the benefits to us local residents is knowing all the wonderful places we have up here to camp, boat and fish this Summer.  But those spots start booking at the beginning of the year. I wanted to remind you to act TODAY so that you may not only make memories with your family, but also get the best spots available. Here are a few tips to consider when making a reservation:

Book EARLY for best selection.  Most destinations offer PREMIUM SITES for the same cost of their regular camp sites, or for a very nominal charge. When calling to book your site or looking on line - be sure to check for those PREMIUM sites. These would be the waterfront or best views, or greatest location or amenities offered in that Park. So check carefully!!

Booking on the Coast can sometimes be tricky, Their Summer weather is not always the same as ours. Many times the foggy weather occupies the coast during the summer months but a bit later in the year can offer the clearest, warmest days. So check the weather by googling it first and make sure your days will be the best weather as you could expect.

Bring the items that you need, be prepared.  Most campsites are remote and you will pay FAR more money for those same items, so my advice is pack more and pay less.  You and your wallet will be happy that you did.

Below is a list of my favorites places I have camped both locally and out of state.  I have always been a simple girl who loves the beauty of the earth more than a Shopping Mall.  A waterfall or view from the top of a mountain can give me far more gratification than that of a new outfit.  I hope you are able to try one new spot this year and I hope it brings you memories that will last a lifetime.

Big Sir - Camping in a beautiful area, Fernwood Campground 1-831-667-2422

Irelands RV Park (camping spots too right on the Beach) Gold Beach 1-541-247-0148
Yosemite, I love Lower Pines and they have waterfront sites too. If you are wanting to hike HALF DOME, make sure you register for a pass they are not granted you need to register and a Lottery System picks those who are granted access. Without these you will not be allowed to enter above Little Yosemite Valley above the Mist Trail. (yes there is a Ranger out there checking for passes).  Camp Reservations 1-877-444-6777

Some of my favorite places also include Hotels....  ;)

Irelands Rustic Cottages, Gold Beach Oregon - Hot Tubs right on the Ocean!! This is a favorite, have to hit this one!!  Also the most romantic rustic cottages made of knotty pine and River rock Stone fireplaces... 1-877-447-3526

Riverpointe Inn, Napa Valley Two Spas, Little Trailer homes with to die for bedding at affordable prices. 1-707-252-4200
Cottage Grove Cottages, Napa Valley These cottages are almost "fairytale". Have everything you could imagine there.  I like crusing on their bikes thru town. The Breakfast is far better than most and their "Happy Hour" is generous and includes 4-5 bottles of wine that the guest stay and mingle at until they're all gone. 1-800-799-2284

Get out there and enjoy life no matter where you go, this earth is a beautiful place I hope you enjoy what she has to offer us.  Happy trails..  =)

Oregon Gorge - so many beautiful waterfalls!
I found this spot last year. Huge waterfalls reminiscent of Hawaii. Camping here this June I will let you know of my tips after that. I may stay in Troutdale at a Hotel since Oregon is so cheap, and the Campsites I've found are a distance away. Will be hiking all these Falls with some of my best friends. Can't wait! Troutdale reminds me so much of Neveda City - earthy and naturalist town. Love it.

Cape Disappointment, Oregon
So much history in this area I guarantee you won't be disappointed! I stayed in this area with a friend years back.  This whole area of about a 25 mile radius offers so much history from Lewis and Clark to the Bunkers of the Past World Wars.  Despite the weather which can sometimes be very cloudy, the lush landscaping made the hiking breath taking.  Loved this area and can't wait to re-visit it one day. Long Beach, Washington is a good area to stay in or Asoria, Oregon. Both 15 minutes apart joined by the largest Suspension Bridge.  The Columbia River begins it's decent here and so much history runs along it.  Go discover!
